Home Health Aide (HHA)

Home Health Aides (HHAs) go to a resident’s home, or work in a residential facility, to deliver health care to the elderly, ill, or disabled. A home health aide typically works with residents who need more extensive physical/ medical care than a typical family can provide. HHAs help their clients with everyday activities like getting out of bed, bathing, dressing, exercising and grooming.

The Home Health Aide diploma program offered at Florida Medical Prep is one of the fastest growing fields in the country today. The HHA profession is expanding dramatically both locally and nationally with an abundance of well-paid opportunities for caring for the needs of the elderly, handicapped or those recovering from an illness or injury. As a home health aide you will visit client’s homes to administer the personal care they need.

Florida Medical Prep’s Home Health Aide program prepares students for employment as a home health aide. You will learn how to maintain bodily and emotional comfort and to assist the client toward independent living in a safe environment. Content areas include: legal and ethical responsibilities; communication skills; basic human needs; a safe, clean, and healthy home environment; human development; nutritional needs; emergency care; personal care; special care and rehabilitation needs of the client; household management; record-keeping; and employability skills.

In addition, comparisons between Home Health Aide and Nursing Assistant requirements in the state of Florida are made.
